Now a firmly established fixture this year saw the third annual ‘St. Sebastian’ Scarecrow Clout (named after the eponymous patron saint of archers). No new scarecrows this year, as the originals were still going strong. Well, just about.
Once again, the weather was almost unnaturally good for November. Always the barometer of it being really warm, Emily once again removed her hat.
A great turnout saw 22 archers taking part at 3 distances. Some members could have reached a fourth, much longer distance (no names) had it been possible to put a scarecrow on the hockey pitch.
This year, there weren’t that many direct hits with scoring fairly low (well, except for Gabe) by previous standards. However, Haris did post a well-deserved club record. Good work Haris!
After much walking, the scores were tallied and the victors were rewarded with Archers Ale courtesy of Bewdley Brewery. Cheers.
Unlike our poor old scarecrows, we’re already looking forward to next year.
