Worcester Bowmen Archery Club was founded in 2002 by a small group of experienced and dedicated archers. Their aim (pun intended) was to create a friendly target archery club for archers of all ages and experience and to provide opportunities for those interested in taking up the sport to learn in a welcoming and social environment. We have stayed true to that ethos over the years and continue to ensure that we warmly welcome all archers new and old.
The club meets on Wednesday evenings, Saturday afternoons and Sunday mornings at our dedicated base at Bromsgrove School’s Winterfold campus, near Chaddesley Corbett in Worcestershire. Wednesday evening shoots alternate between indoors during the autumn/winter period and outdoors throughout spring and summer. Sunday mornings and Saturday afternoons are outdoors all year round.
Our outdoor sessions are on a large, well-maintained sports field, with spectacular views of the Elmley Brook valley towards Bromsgrove and Droitwich. During the winter, Indoor shooting takes place in the heated sports hall. The combination of outdoor and indoor shooting throughout the year allows all archers to try a range of distances and rounds to suit. Most of our shooting sessions are target based, with occasional fun shoots and our annual clout.
For those looking to take up archery, we offer dedicated beginners’ courses and try archery sessions throughout the year. And we always welcome experienced archers wishing to join us full-time or shoot as visitors.
Membership
Membership is open to anyone over the age of 10 years. We offer annual memberships to archers who have completed an Archery GB-recognised beginner’s course.
Our annual membership runs from the start of October each year, and new memberships are offered on a part-year basis dependent on the time of year. For those archers who have completed a beginner’s course with another club, or for experienced archers wishing to join the club as a new member, we will undertake an assessment session with you prior to offering membership.
