This year’s Scarecrow Clout 2025 promises to be another memorable edition of our novel clout-shooting tradition. Following the success of last year’s event, we’re once again pitting bow against scarecrow — with laughs, long-distance shooting, and good company.
What is a “Clout”?
In case it’s your first time — clout archery involves shooting arrows at a low flag (the “clout”) from distance, aiming to land as close as possible to the marker flag. Points are awarded depending on how close the arrow lands to the flag.

Highlights from 2025
- A newly crafted “scarecrow target” — once again standing in for the clout flag, bringing humour and friendly rivalry into our shoot.
- A mixed field of archers, old hands and newcomers alike — all giving clout a go.
- Plenty of arrows launched … and laughter when the scarecrow remained elusive at full distance.
- Some impressively accurate shots landed right on (and through!) the scarecrows — proving that even at clout distance, our archers can still deliver some cracking hits.
- A warm, social atmosphere afterwards — good chat, refreshments and community spirit.

Thank You & What’s Next
A big thank you to everyone who came along — for shooting, scoring, collecting arrows, and helping tidy up. Without you, there’s no clout!
